After a bit of a slow start, the puppies are putting on weight nicely. I'm supplementing Annie's milk with bottle feeding, to overcome the issue of there only being 10 teats but 11 mouths to feed. I've trimmed the puppies' nails today, it's surprising how quickly they grow. I use a nail grinder to trim the excess away, to avoid leaving any sharp edges that could damage Annie's skin.
Here are some of today's photos

In the sunshine again
Annie and puppies snoozing together, it's a hard life.
30 Aug 2016
A few close ups of the puppies along with one from my granddaughter's visit. She's an old hand at dealing with puppies even though she's not quite 4 years old.
31 Aug 2016
The other dogs are desperate to get into the room to see the puppies, but I'm making them wait for a few more days. They can here the noise the very vocal puppies make when they want feeding. In this photo some of the puppies are feeding while some have a nap.
01 Sept 2016
A short VIDEO of the puppies settling down for a snooze after their lunchtime feed.
The puppies will soon get used to having cuddles with my grandsons, Owen and Luca.
02 Sept 2016
Another VIDEO of the puppies which should be titled "Where's mummy, we want feeding NOW"
"I love you mummy". The black boy cuddling up with Annie
The 2 black girls snuggling up together.
The black boy has moved to snuggle up between his chocolate brother and sister.
Two chocolate boys and 2 chocolate girls snoozing.
03 Sept 2016
It's been a bit of a dark and dismal day outside, which has an impact on the light inside when I video the puppies. Here is a VIDEO from this afternoon. One of the puppies has opened his eyes today, the first born boy. It was lovely to see him peeping back at me when I lifted him out to trim his nails. I expect the others to open their eyes in the next day or two.
05 Sept 2016
No photos yesterday as I had a slight problem with my camera, but it's all sorted now. This photo is of the last born boy snuggling up next to Annie.

The puppies can be quiet vocal when they're hungry, as you can hear in this VIDEO They've all got their eyes open now.
06 Sept 2016
I love the way the puppies snuggle up together, sometimes in the strangest of positions.
07 Sept 2016
A few more photos of the puppies snoozing.
08 Sept 2016
Today the puppies have had their first taste of goats milk. They didn't need any encouragement to lap from the bowl, though I'll need to use 2 bowls in future so they can all fit round. Here are 2 videos, the FIRST one is the puppies tucking in and the SECOND one is the aftermath.

The puppies can't get enough of the goats milk. Here's another VIDEO of them piling into the bowls.
Just look at this little tummy, ready for someone to blow raspberries on.

Look who sneaked in with the puppies in this first photo, big sister Esther.
Puppy pile - and another tummy to blow raspberries on
The puppies had their first taste of solid food this afternoon and loved it.
Esther and Miriam in with the puppies, with Gertie looking on.
11 Sept 2016
The older dogs are quite curious about the puppies and Esther, in particular, loves spending time in with them, though I suspect her interest may be in trying to lick any excess food off them as much as anything. You can watch her in this VIDEO
A full tummy and a snooze in the sunshine, what more could a puppy want - apart from a good wash to get rid of the food remnants.
This time it's Poppy who has sneaked in with the puppies. She's be happy to stop in there all day if I'd let her.
Annie feeding some of the puppies while the others snooze.
12 Sept 2016
Esther and Miriam love their half-siblings (Esther shares the same mum, Miriam the same dad) and take every opportunity to join them in the whelping box, as you can see from this VIDEO
Martha keeps giving the puppies a sneaky wash.
14 Sept 2016
Poppy has been in with the puppies again, in fact, it's difficult to keep her out. Despite being 11 years old, she hasn't lost her mothering instinct.
15 Sept 2016
The puppies like to lay in all sorts of strange positions that you could never imagine being comfortable, but obviously are.
16 Sept 2016
These are some of the messiest puppies I've ever had, these 3 have even fall asleep in one of the bowls.
The rugby scrum.
All of his siblings are asleep but this noisy boy can't quite find the right place to settle. Watch his tail wag in this VIDEO when his big sister, Esther, climbs in.
17 Sept 2016
More photos of the pups snoozing in all sorts of positions. Click on each pic to see the larger version. There's also a short VIDEO of the puppies, with background commentary from a couple of my grandchildren
18 Sept 2016
It's been a busy few days, with some of the puppies' new owners coming to visit. The VIDEO was taken first thing this morning, while 2 of my grandchildren were still here. The puppies are now wearing the second size ID collars as the first ones were getting a little snug.
Teatime, after their visitors have gone.
19 Sept 2016
Esther loves the puppies and is keen to spend as much time with her as she can. In the FIRST VIDEO she's laying down with them. In the SECOND VIDEO she's giving some of them quite a vigorous cleaning as well as trying to get one of them out of the corner.
20 Sept 2016
Today it was Poppy's turn to spend time with the puppies. You can see her in the VIDEO and the photos below. She's a bit of a monkey and once she gets in with the puppies she gives a warning growl to any of the others who go near, she takes her puppy-sitting duties very seriously.

There's no keeping her out, here's another VIDEO of Poppy in with the puppies, this time she's giving the boy with the emerald green collar a thorough wash.
These two boys are so chilled out.

22 Sept 2016
It's started. They've been plotting for the last 4 weeks and today it finally happened. I was out of the house for only 20 minutes and came back to find one of the puppies in the middle of the lounge floor. Poppy was fast asleep in the whelping box with the rest of the pups and Ned and Annie were up on the sofas, well away from the little ankle-biter. New owners, don't say you haven't been warned <grin>
Mealtime. These puppies have got good appetites and the bowls are soon empty.
Snuggling up with Poppy.
"Listen, do you want to know a secret?"
23 Sept 2016
My grandchildren absolutely adore the puppies. This VIDEO was taken early this morning and shows Isla talking to the puppies, they clearly love her as much as she loves them. The photos include Owen and Luca, vying for the puppies' attention.
24 Sept 2016
A busy day for the puppies, with lots of visitors, most of them their new owners. Meanwhile, Poppy was puppy-sitting yet again. Check out the photo of her using one of the puppies as a pillow.

The escape committee are at it again
27 Sept 2016
The puppies have been moved through to the dining room and now have a bit more room. Tomorrow the pen will be extended further, once the dining table has been taken out of the room.
This photo was taken at supper time, the puppies had been practising for their own version of a certain TV ad by shredding the paper I'd put down on the floor of the pen.
28 Sept 2016
The light isn't as good in the dining room so some of the photos have had to be scrapped. This one is the puppies asleep with Poppy. She spends all day with them, happy to have them snuggle up with her and to clean up after them. Annie pops in now and then to give them a top-up of milk, but is happy to let Poppy take over while she gets a well-earned rest.
29 Sept 2016
The puppies love Poppy and are so content to cuddle up with her when Annie's not there. I'll be extending the pen to give them even more room.
30 Sept 2016
The puppies' new owners have started to choose which puppy will be theirs. It's never an easy decision, especially with such an even litter. By Saturday evening I will know which family each puppy will be going to live with and in the case of most of them, what the puppy's name will be.
The puppy on the left looks to be laughing at a joke he's just been told by one of the others.
The girl with the yellow collar is enjoying a snooze against Poppy's back.
Brotherly love.
01 Oct 2016
A busy day for the puppies. We now know which home each of them will be going to, as well as all but 2 of their new names.
Two little bookends.
They've outgrown the shared circular bowls and are now on to the individual ones.
Bedtime cuddles with Poppy for these 2 puppies.
02 Oct 2016
Proper food is ok, but you can't beat mum's milk when it's on offer.
03 Oct 2016
The puppies love their cuddles with puppy-sitter Poppy.
04 Oct 2016
The puppies have had a busy evening and had great fun with some of my friends. Some of them were so tired they could hardly eat their supper.
05 Oct 2016
Puppy-sitter Poppy gives such good cuddles.

07 Oct 2016
This VIDEO shows the puppies' early morning playtime. Poppy is already in position to carry out her puppy-sitting duties.
Rosie doing her impression of a hearth ornament.
Watch out Isla, the puppies have got their eyes on that plait.
And now they're after your shoes and your snuggy.
All that play is very tiring.
08 Oct 2016
Some photos of early morning snuggles with Poppy after they've had their breakfast.
The puppies had some special visitors this afternoon, Brooke and Fern came for puppy cuddles, along with their brother, Owen and dad, Dave.
09 Oct 2016
A few seconds ago the pen was clean and tidy and now look at the state of it - not that the puppies are bothered, they're ready for a nap after all that shredding.
10 Oct 2016
The puppies have been microchipped today, there was barely a squeak from them.
Waiting for tea.
Tucking in.
Nap time.
11 Oct 2016
The puppies are quite vocal when they think it's meal time. They recognise the sound of the food being weighed out, even when it's not in the same room. Just listen to them in this first VIDEO
In the 2nd VIDEO they're much quieter and all you can hear is the crunching of kibble.
12 Oct 2016
I only went out for about an hour and came home to 11 little escapees. They'd not only got out of the pen in the dining room (my fault for not fastening one of the gates securely) but had had quite an adventure in the lounge. Puppy toys taken out of the tub and spread around the floor, lots of pee and poo on the carpet and some wires very well chewed. New owners, you have been warned! Watch this VIDEO to see some of the carnage
13 Oct 2016
The puppies have redeemed themselves today. They are the one and only litter to leave home, get vet checked and back home without passing a single pee or poo. Below are some photos of them in the car, ready for setting off. Don't forget to click on each image to see the larger version.
Here they are, back home again, all chilled out after their journey.
14 Oct 2016
The first puppy has gone to her new home today and the remaining little angels weren't quite ready for bed when I took this VIDEO
15 Oct 2016
Four more of the puppies have gone to their new homes today, leaving these 6, waiting for their tea.
17 Oct 2016
There might only be 3 of them but they can still make a good job of ripping up the paper.
19 Oct 2016
The owner of one of the puppies make the very hard and selfless decision to let him come back to me. A relapse in a health condition meant she was going to be unable to give him some of the care he would need. He won't be back for long though, I've had enquiries from several families and he'll soon be in his forever home. It didn't take him long to settle back in with his 3 siblings, as you can see from the photo below.
