It's hard work being a new mum
so Miriam's taking advantage of the puppies being asleep and having a nap herself.

No photos yesterday as I was at my daughter's wedding.
Special thanks to Andrea Davies for puppy-sitting.
Today the first of the puppies has opened her eyes, the black girl with the flowers collar. I'm sure the rest will follow in the next couple of days. It's always such a magical time when I look at a puppy and see a pair of little eyes peeping back at me.

The puppies have been wormed for the first time today. They managed to get quite a bit of it all over each other.

It's a hard life being a puppy.

Sampling the goats milk.
The goats milk was ok but Mum's milk is even better.
Their first taste of kibble, soaked in hot water and mushed up.
26 June 2018
The puppies often get into the strangest positions when they're feeding from Miriam.
27 June 2018
The whelping box has been moved to the other side of the room and the pen around it has been extended so the puppies have more room to spread out.
Meal time.
Full tummies.
28 June 2018
You can see just how much the puppies have grown when you watch this VIDEO. Miriam had just come in from the garden, hence the bits on her back.

A few close-ups of the puppies

A short VIDEO of the puppies playing together. They're starting to get quite rough with each other, biting ears and tails at times.
06 July 2018
The hot weather is taking its toll on the puppies. They decided their bedding needed rearranging so they could make the most of the cooler paper underneath.

"Is there room for me, Mum?"
08 July 2018
Yesterday I moved the puppies into the dining room, they've more room and it's quite a bit cooler. Today my lovely friend, Claire Middleton, has visited, below are some of the stunning photos she's taken of the puppies. Don't forget to click on each one to see the full size version.

Breakfast, followed by a top-up from mum.
12 July 2018
It's getting more and more difficult to get photos of the puppies, they're either fast asleep or awake and moving around too quickly. These are a few from today.
13 July 2018
The puppies have been on their first car journey today.
14 July 2018
The puppies have got to the stage where they've started tugging each other's collars when they're playing, so today I've replaced the ID collars with proper collars, as you can see in this first photo.
A family gathering. The 2 black girls chose a cool place to sleep, on the tiles in the dining room doorway. The older dogs had done the same, at the other side of the gate.
16 July 2018
A short VIDEO of the puppies. They're supposed to be settling down for the night but I don't think there's much chance of that. Such quiet, gentle little creatures < laugh >
17 July 2018
Lunch time and they've moved on to separate bowls from now onwards.
Peggy (pink collar) in the centre and Cora (orange collar) to the left.
The 2 black boys, one with the red collar and the other with the turquoise collar.

It's been busy weekend for the puppies, with lots of visitors. This VIDEO shows some of them playing this evening - and some of them catching up on their sleep.

Yesterday the puppies were microchipped. Such good puppies, not a squeak out of them, they took it all in their stride. Today we've had a visit from one of Annie's puppies, 17 week old Bella (and her human mum). This is a VIDEO of the puppies meeting Bella.
26 July 2018
Henry's sound asleep
Ollie's getting ready for a nap
and so is Pitch
and so is Pitch
Meanwhile Cora is doing a bit of paddling
Peggy's been in the water bowl too
Edith thinks the gate needs a few adjustments
27 July 2018
A VIDEO of the pups having a mad few minutes. Note the wet floor and absence of a water bowl, it was confiscated after they'd all had a drink then decide to paddle in it and spread water everywhere.
31 July 2018
The first of the puppies will leave for his new home tomorrow so today they've all be to the vets for a health check. I think they now hold the record for the smallest litter to produce the most poo during the journey. Not only that, as I cleaned them up and put them in a clean crate some of them did even more! Half a pack of wipes, a kitchen roll and 3 pieces of vet bed later we finally made it into the vets. They were all given a clean bill of health and fell asleep in the car coming home.
In the car, ready to set off.
Charming the receptionists after seeing the vet.
Outside and ready to go back in the car.
Back home, it was all too much for Cora, who was still snoozing to the right of the crate.

A new chapter begins in the lives of Miriam's puppies as they start to leave for their new homes. Although I know I've chosen the very best of homes for the puppies, it's always a very emotional time. To follow their progress go to More of Miriam's puppies 2018
02 Aug 2018
After rampaging around the living room, the puppies found the coolest places to have a nap.
03 Aug 2018
And then there were four.
04 Aug 2018
The puppies are quite clever at finding the coolest surfaces to sleep on.
08 Aug 2018
Cora and Edith (AKA "The Downton girls" for those of you who watched the TV drama) having a snooze together. Cora is staying for a bit longer, to accommodate her new owners' holiday, so it will be double trouble from now onwards.
10 Aug 2018
Edith and Cora had a great time this evening, their first time on grass in the front garden.
14 Aug 2018
Edith and Cora have been to the vet for their 2nd vaccinations this morning.
Here they are in the car, ready to set off.

19 Aug 2018
Cora and Edith love to have a run round in the garden, stopping occasionally for
a quick snack of blackberries.
23 Aug 2018
Edith and Cora have been for a ride in the car today, to visit one of my friends. I parked outside her house and opened the car boot while my friend and I stood and chatted. The puppies were totally unfazed by the traffic passing by, quite the opposite, they watched each vehicle as it passed the car.
28 Aug 2018
Edith and Cora have been out in the big wide world, on the ground, today. We went to a pet store where they met a very excitable yellow Labrador, a Pug and a Shih Tzu as well as lots of humans. Cora did a massive pee in the middle of one of the aisles and not to be outdone, Edith did a poo in another one (thanks goodness I had poo bags to hand). Here they are in the car, just before we set off
29 Aug 2018
Cora and Edith always enjoy their playtime in the side garden. There's a blackberry bush down at the bottom end of the garden and the 2 girls love sampling the fruit as you can see in this VIDEO

Playing bitey-face as they nosy over the wall.
02 Sept 2018
Today my very talented friend, Claire, came to visit and took some photos of Edith and Cora, the last ones of the 2 of them together before Cora leaves for her new home tomorrow. Below is just a small sample of the photos.
03 Sept 2018
Cora has gone to her new home today, leaving just Edith who's the puppy I'm keeping. To follow the progress of the puppies in their new homes got to the More of Miriam's puppies 2018 page.
